The RCIA, which stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is a process through which non-baptized men and women enter the Catholic Church. It includes several stages marked by study, prayer and rites at Mass. They undergo a process of conversion as they study the Gospel, profess faith in Jesus and the Catholic Church, and receive the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and Holy Eucharist. The RCIA process follows the ancient practice of the church and was restored by the Second Vatican Council as the normal way adults prepare for baptism.
The RCIA is available to those who:
1. Have never been baptized in the Catholic Church or any other Christian denomination;
2. Have been baptized but have not received the sacraments of Holy Eucharist or Confirmation in order to be fully initiated in the Roman Catholic Church.
Our RCIA team has been together for many years and has worked with people of all ages on their faith journey. The first stage is known as INQUIRY and is very important because it allows a person to check out the group without any pressure of commitment. As the process continues, the person is invited to enter deeper into a commitment and to ultimately be welcomed into the Church at the Easter Vigil.
